The Complete Guide to Champion Counterpicks

In League of Legends, champion selection determines half the game. By observing your opponent's picks and choosing a counter champion, you can gain a significant advantage in the laning phase.

Counters are determined by several factors, including skill structure, range, mobility, and damage type. For example, Yasuo is weak against ranged abilities, but his Wind Wall can block projectiles, making him strong against champions with a lot of non-target abilities.

A typical counter to top lane is Darius, who is weak to Teemo. Teemo's blind and ranged poke nullify Darius's close combat. Conversely, Darius can outperform short-range mages like Ryze.

In the mid lane, Zed counters Xerath. Zed's high mobility and Shadow Shift allow him to neutralize Xerath's long-range pokes and close-range assassinations. However, Zed is vulnerable to champions with a lot of CC, like Lissandra.

In the ADC position, Caitlyn counters Varus. Her longer range allows for one-sided harassing and easy lane dominance. However, Caitlyn is at a disadvantage because her primary skills can be blocked by Sivir's spell shield.

Supports tend to counter healers with hard CC. Heroes like Leona and Nautilus are strong against Soraka and Yuumi, and can easily catch them out due to their water-based nature.

However, counterpicks aren't absolute. Player skill often matters more, and choosing a champion you're good at can be better than choosing an unfamiliar counterpick. Close after ban/pick
